Today we have exercises to help you develop your powers of concentration.
Mindfulness Meditation is a fully active practice that teaches us to develop our powers of concentration.
When we meditate, we focus on an object (such as the breath), and we gently return our attention to that object whenever distractions arise. Meditation, therefore, trains our minds to cultivate that single-pointedness.
Now, unless you are the reincarnation of a Buddhist monk, you’ve probably noticed that staying present with the breath for more than even a few seconds can be a really challenging task. This is why it’s important to practise each day, even if it’s only for a few minutes.
The meditation we are going to do today is going to help us develop our powers of concentration. We’re going to begin by focusing on our breath and our body, and then we’re going practice a technique called noting.
