Day 4 – ATTENTION DAY

Today is ATTENTION DAY.

Attention is related to Concentration, although Concentration and Attention are different functions. They each have their role to play in meditation, and while the relationship between them is definite, it is subtle.

Concentration can be developed by force, by sheer willpower. Attention, on the other hand, is a delicate function leading to a more refined awareness.

They are both partners in the job of meditation: Attention is the sensitive partner, it notices things, whereas Concentration does the work of holding Attention steady. If either of these partners is weak, your meditation goes astray.

Today we are going to practice a Body Scan. The Body Scan meditation requires moving our Attention through the different regions of the body, allowing ourselves to experience how each part feels, without trying to change anything.
