‘You are the lynchpin that holds your world together. Allow it to wear out and your whole world falls apart.’ Seth Godin

So you need to know how to make yourself super resilient!

Seth Godin is a well respected author whose bestseller, ‘Lynchpin’ has been read globally. He speaks a lot of truth, and you really do need to manage your stress to make yourself super resilient and be successful. If you don’t – you will not be able to hold your world together.

In today’s world, people often feel like they have too many pressures and responsibilities which make us stressed, so imagine a life without any stress at all. You can think about long, lazy days without any woman sleep success without stresspressures or worries. No need to get up until 11am, if at all You can do whatever you want, whenever you want. You have absolutely no responsibilities!

Whilst this picture may seem appealing to some, it doesn’t take long to realise that stress isn’t always a bad thing – and is in fact a very important part of life.  In fact you have have positive stress (to get you motivated, like a reasonable deadline, or need to be on time for something) as well as negative stress (such as too many unrealistic deadlines, or a badly planned schedule).

We need an element of positive stress in our lives to rev our bodies into action and shape us into an appropriate state for the task at hand. So it makes sense that we need a kind of stress to get us out of bed in the morning and motivate us throughout the day.  However, whilst some is good, a lot isn’t better and it quickly turns into negative stress! So even more evidence that says you need to know how to make yourself super resilient!

Over a prolonged period, this constant stress will have a negative impact on their physical and emotional wellbeing. so we need to be able to understand how to manage negative stress before it gets overwhelming.

According to Deepak Chopra, the health, wellness and spirituality guru:
‘Stress is the number one epidemic of our time, directly or indirectly responsible for cardio problems and inflammation’

And Deepak isn’t alone in this view.

Business today runs 24/7 thanks to modern technology, but this ‘always on’ lifestyle takes its toll on the body, making it no surprise that stress is now a factor in:

·      75-90% of visits to doctors’ surgeries across the globe

·      128 million lost working days in the UK alone, at a cost of £12.4 billion per year

·      40% of all medical insurance claims (tripled since 1991)

·      400% increase in adults taking antidepressants since 1988

Indeed, 40% of workers find their jobs to be “very” or “extremely” stressful, and 36% “often” or “very often” feel used up at the end of the day. These stats support the view that stress is a big issue for us as individuals, business owners and governments. Moreover, the problem doesn’t seem to be getting any better.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), if left untapped, stress-related disorders, which include heart disease and depression, will be the top two leading causes of disability in adults by 2020.

So you have the facts, the figures and the psychology to know that you need to make yourself super resilient to stress
