If, like me, you work in the corporate sector, you won’t be surprised to learn that many of us are feeling under increasing pressure and are experiencing anxiety and stress. Research findings validates this general awareness. For instance, the HuffingtonPost recently highlighted the findings from TILDA which showed that stress and anxiety in the UK population is definitely on the up.
What do you think? Would you agree with these findings?
TILDA found that for people in the UK – a whopping 54% said yes to an increase in stress and anxiety at work and at home. All of this stress of course has an impact and the data pointed towards a number of negative impacts on wellbeing, including:
- more clashes with loved ones, and less time with the kids.
- disrupted sleep
- not being able to ‘switch off’
- poor diet from being too busy to prepare good food
The study also revealed that respondents have created unhealthy habits to be able to cope with the pressure, including drinking ‘energy’ drinks and coffee to keep ‘on the go’ and stay alert at work. As well as stress and anxiety, mental fatigue and exhaustion is also on the rise.
